WRA Lesson Programs

Lessons to suit every level of riding, with qualified instructors, and a variety of trained horses.
For ages seven to adult, our focus is to provide a safe, positive & inclusive learning experience.

For Beginners (or those returning to riding after an absence), an emphasis on establishing
the fundamentals in a safe environment with proper instruction.

For Experienced Riders, advanced coaching in Jumping, Eventing, and Dressage.

A friendly atmosphere with an indoor arena, outdoor rings & heated viewing lounge.

Introductory Riding Special

2 x 1-Hour Riding Lessons - $120  (per person, includes Helmet & HST).
An excellent primer to those interested in horseback riding for the first time, or for those returning after an absence and want a refresher.
Whether it’s to satisfy a lifelong passion, or prepare for a trail riding experience, all the basics for safety, confidence, and comfort are covered.
Usually taken one week apart. Afterwards, ongoing lessons and coaching can be designed to meet your personal goals.
Ages seven to adult.   For groups or individuals.   Gift Certificates available.

Introduction to Riding - Lesson One
On-ground Instruction - 30 minutes
   - Preparing your horse, bridle & saddle, and safety fundamentals
Riding Instruction - 30 minutes
   - Mounting, position, steering & navigating a serpentine course

Introduction to Riding - Lesson Two 
Riding Instruction - 30 minutes 
  - Posting trot and diagonals (based on progress of rider) 
On-ground Instruction - 30 minutes 
  - Untacking, grooming & groom kit, and stable fundamentals
Introduction to Riding Lesson 1
Includes preparing & tacking your horse, safety fundamentals, mounting, basic position, steering and navigating a serpentine course.

Introduction to Riding Lesson 2
Includes additional riding instruction, learning your posting trot & diagonals, untacking & grooming your horse, plus stable fundamentals.
Lesson Package Includes:
      2 x 1-hr Introductory Lessons (scheduled one week apart)
      Maximum of 3 riders, each with their own horse
     ASTM Approved Riding Helmet

To begin you will need:
     Boots with a minimum 1/2" heel (hiking or rubber rain boots will do)
     Comfortable sweatpants or leggings with a bit of stretch (avoid jeans)

Private Assessment - $35 

Our riding assessment is designed for Experienced Riders (those able to canter comfortably), who are interested in joining an ongoing lesson program. The 30-min. assessment will help us determine your riding level, and the type of lesson program that best suits your equestrian needs.
Includes:
Introduction to WRA stable facilities and horses
Overview of our grooming & tacking procedures
Assessment of your riding skills (10-15 min.)
Discussion of your past riding experience
Review of your current goals
Overview of instructors and disciplines
Design of a program that suits your needs

Riders groom and tack their own horse before and after lesson time.

Please note that every effort is made to provide the lesson size requested.  However, due to unexpected illness, emergency cancellations, and scheduling demands, we cannot always guarantee lesson size.  Riding fees are based on the actual lesson size that occurs.

Reminders

Please arrive 20-30 minutes before your scheduled lesson to properly groom and tack your assigned horse.
Properly cool down your horse!
Please fully groom your horse, and pick their feet after every lesson.
Horses tacked in a stall must be tied on a short lead that is provided inside.
All tack must be sponge cleaned with saddle soap at the sink.
Bits must be cleaned 
thoroughly, and rinsed with water.
Put all your brushes and tack away neatly.
Ensure aisle is swept and tidy, and stall doors properly shut and latched.
Be sure your horse has water!

Birthday Celebrations & Group Events

We offer a variety of riding experiences specifically designed to suit your special event, whether it’s a Birthday Celebration, Corporate Team Building, or Social Event.
A fun introduction to horseback riding and horsemanship, group events typically last 2 or 3 hours, with time split between on-ground instruction and a formal riding lesson.
Instruction is fine-tuned to the current level of riders attending. Minimum age requirement is 7 years old.
Use of our heated viewing lounge and outdoor picnic area is included for any celebration afterwards. Email us for a quote.

For a quote, please contact us with the number of participants, plus a few options for dates and times.  A tour of our riding facility can be arranged before booking.
We do require that a WRA Risk Awareness Form be completed and signed for every rider by a legal Parent/Guardian.
Approved riding helmets are provided, and participants will need to bring boots with a heel (rubber rain boots or hiking boots will do).
